The International Mill Museum in Gifhorn is a unique open-air museum that presents over 50 mill models from all over the world. On an extensive site, original-sized replicas and functioning installations demonstrate the technical diversity of mill traditions. Visitors experience a journey through different cultures and eras - from windmills to water mills.
There is also a Russian Orthodox wooden church in the public area of the park. It was built in the traditional style and is an impressive example of sacred wooden architecture. It was faithfully built by Russian craftsmen from Siberian larch.
Next to it is a Ukrainian mill. It is an authentic reconstruction of a historic trestle windmill from Ukraine. It was built according to traditional plans and shows the characteristic design of Eastern European windmills. The mill symbolises the cultural diversity of Eastern European mill technology.
